So here it is - my August blog! Life has taken on just a tiny bit of normality since easing of lockdown and I am really busy.
At the end of July we had our Penzance Open Tournament - there was no tournament last year but the organisers were confident that we could return to Open tournaments in 2021. Not everyone felt absolutely comfortable with it. I certainly respect those who thought it was too early to have an open tournament but it went ahead and it was a success. There were no President's Reception, no social events in the evenings and no grand raffle this time. We could all concentrate on our tennis. For me it was a week of eating, drinking, sleeping tennis and I am so glad I took the week off work to compete. I entered the maximum amount of events (yes, I know, bit nuts!) but I am super pleased to report that I won an event this year! Thanks to my brilliant partner Zoe we won the Ladies Handicap Doubles. I also had a good run with my lovely St Ives partner Tony. We made it through to the quarter finals and got on brilliantly. Tony was doing very well in the singles (we both like singles that's why we get on so well in doubles) but had to give a walkover into the final due to work commitments. That was such a shame and I felt really, really sorry for him. I still believe he could have won the event but we will never know. My other doubles partners were Jane and Hazel. Again, we did well but could not sustain it to Finals Day. Anyway, totally chuffed to have won one event.
There has been little time for anything else but I have renewed enthusiasm for writing and my artwork. I sold another piece of art today which inspires me to keep going. The Ocean Blue Lighthouse that I sold this morning did not even make it onto my website. It was sold via Facebook. I love it when people appreciate the locally found materials and the work that goes into the pieces.
I will sign off with a photo taken by Mr Andy Barker (Essex). Thanks, Andy and all the best!!
