The first month of the New Year is almost over! Can't believe it. Writing projects are in full swing. I have recently had a short story published. It was based on my first book "Petroc's Church" and entitled "Sounds Familiar". It appeared on the website of Indian publishers Twist & Twain. If you are interested please take a look at their website www.twistandtwain.com and look under Magical Realism. All this happened so quickly. I did actually submit the short story to others but unfortunately I had to withdraw once T & T published it online. A couple of other short story/flash fiction projects are in progress and I am actively looking to do more.
I have also had a photograph published in The Cornishman newspaper. Inspired by one of our German friends who regularly submits to The Big Picture I tried it as well and my photo got into the paper! As I am out and about so much at the moment there is always a chance of taking a good picture - I don't have a dedicated camera anymore but it is surprising how well my phone is doing - most of the time anyway!
Book no. 3 is coming on very slowly. I have been a little distracted by the shorter projects and my other hobbies - no, not tennis (no tennis since Lockdown No. 3) but Miles for Medals (Virtual Running/Walking Group) and, of course, driftwood art. I have just completed a table lamp base and a small shelf. Quite a lot of my time has been spent on our beaches where I collect my materials. I really love working with driftwood and I shall go out and collect more bits from the sea when the weather allows.
With the G7 coming to us (venue is located exactly 800 metres from our house!) Carbis Bay will get a lot of publicity. I am determined to make the most of that. It is more important than ever to get my work out there!
However, I find it hard to keep up with my virtual exercise classes. If it continues like this I have to very seriously consider if I can keep it up. If and when I am spending more time on book no. 3 it will be even tougher to get it all in.
Enough for now - more news next month!
